It is located just across the Blue Mosque. It the past times, it was used to be called Hagia Sophia Mosque but it is no more used as a mosque so it is now called Hagia Sofia Museum. It is one of the most visited and most famous museums of Istanbul. In the very old times, it was used for the coronations of the sultans but after the conquest of Istanbul, it is started to be used as a mosque. In 1938, Mustafa Kemal made the building a museum and opened it for visitation. It is visited by 7.5 millions of visitors each year.
